In today's reader mail & rumor report, we look at Babya Discoverer RSS's ability to view photocasts, and also news about Babya Firestorm. Rumors include-a new version of Babya bCal, and more Babya software to include PDF creation.


Babya Discoverer RSS-Photocasts:
Babya Discoverer RSS's bView can be used to display photocasts-that can be created on a Mac with Apple iPhoto 6 (part of Apple iLife '06).

As an example of how bView displays a photocast, below is a screenshot showing a sample photocast:























Babya Firestorm:
A new Babya application will be released soon-Babya Firestorm. It's a amazing pyrotechnics/firestorm image generator.

A description:

First select a palette so you can see what's going on...Fire is the most realistic palette while SeaBlue is more otherworldlyand Infrared is like looking through Infra-Red goggles.

Then play around with the particle controls until you're happy...this may take awhile and don't forget to look at some of the presets.

Turn on Bitmapped-Origin for more specialised flames, clear the origin then click anddrag the mouse around in the main view to draw with fire. If the fire thins out while drawing,increase the Particle Density.

When you're happy, click the Save button to render the fire as a series of bitmaps.In the Save Fire dialog box, you can select how many frames to render and where to placethe bitmaps. There is also an option to restart the fire particles before saving.


Babya bCal:
A updated version of Babya bCal is expected to be released early next month.

More Babya software with PDF support?:
There's some indication that throughout the year, more Babya applications will gain PDF support-most likely Babya bCal.

Notably, the November 6 event will see multiple updates to various Babya applications-some we expect to be announced or released, are below:-

• Babya bSuite: version 2 expected to be announced , includes updated version of Babya E-Type with Babya PDF Converter built-in .
• Babya Discoverer: New version expected to be announced-Discoverer RSS 12 with built in firewall.
• Babya Presenter: Version 3.0 to be announced, Pro version to be introduced along with updated version of Babya Presenter

While the announcement of Babya Photo Workshop 10.5 & Babya Photo Workshop XL 11.5 are expected at the event, we've received word that Babya Presenter 3.0, plus Babya Presenter Pro 3.0 with support for audio & images slideshow (previously rumored) will also be announced.

Basically it's going to a page layout application featuring a intergrated Babya Photo Workshop (a cut-down version-no support for custom color palettes ).

The intergrated Babya Photo Workshop has several new features, according to Alvin:

"About the built-in Babya Photo Workshop:

• New airbrush tool
• Can open and roundtrip files (eg. you could open a image in Publisher, edit it there and import that in to Photo Workshop) from Babya Photo Workshop Professional and Babya Photo Workshop Professional XL.

• Different text placement-a text box is placed first, whereas in the standalone Babya Photo Workshop, text is put on the canvas last.

In this week's reader mail & rumor report-we report on rumors about new versions of Babya Photo Workshop and Babya Photo Workshop XL and a media event for Babya graphics applications in November.

Babya Photo Workshop & Babya Photo Workshop XL:

According to the official Babya blog (,http://www.livejournal.com/users/babyasoftwaregr) Babya Photo Workshop and Babya Photo Workshop XL will be updated in November, and at the January Babya Expo :

A new version of Babya Photo Workshop-version 10.5 is expected be released in November with a new image masking feature.

Babya Photo Workshop XL will receive a major upgrade-to version 11.0 at the Babya Expo in early January.

I'd also like to let you know that Babya Album 2 is now included.

New Babya software next month?:

A invite to a Babya media event has been sent out to various Babya forums . It reads

"Join us for a special event on November 6, as we present the latest innovations in Babya software"

What will be announced at the event is not clear-sources say one of the names for a new Babya software is PhotoRoll.

Below are some more tips for using Babya Logic.

Organise Babya Logic files easily:

You can create a projects folder to save Babya Logic files into, in .mia format.

Also, create a shortcut to each file and put that on your desktop, Quick Launch or dock for quick access (make sure you create a file type association for .mia first).

Quickly record audio samples:

Babya Logic includes Babya SampleStudio to easily record new audio samples.

Open Babya SampleStudio, and go to File-Record new sample. When the record window appears, press 'Record' to start recording.

When finshed, press 'Stop' and then 'Finish'
.
You can then go to File-Save Sample Bank, to save the recording into a .bnk file.

Finally, you can open the sample bank file later, by going to File-Load Sample Bank.

You can place .bnk files from Babya SampleStudio into a 'Audio samples' folder.

Reader Mail & Rumor Report-September 3, 2005

In today's reader maIl & rumor report, we begin a 3 part report on Babya Logic. This week we share some useful tips.


Here's some handy tips if you use Babya Logic or Apple Logic:

Export Babya Logic songs for further editing in other software:

If you export MIDI files created with Babya Logic, you can easilyimport and edit the MIDI files on the Mac with Apple Logic or withMAGIX MIDI Studio and other music production suitws (eg. Cubase,Traktion, Abelton,Ntrack).

First save your Babya Logic project (File-Save, Ctrl+S) and next go to File-Export MIDI File

Open Logic and go to-File-Import and to export back to MIDI, select a area of music (Edit-Select All), then go to File-Export Selection as MIDI File to export back to a MIDI file.

Babya Logic exports to a standard MIDI file format (*.mid)

Easy synth access:

You can easily access any of the included Babya synths in Logic bygoing to the Extras menu-Synths and then select a synth to open (eg.try running EXM via this way).

This is super-fast and time saving-no need to open a mixer to assignand access a synth, unlike other music production software requires you to do.


Make sure the synths are installed in the main Babya Logic folder (the installer does this for you- alternatively, the synths can be runoutside Babya Logic, in a different folder or drive) before running each synth via this method.


Set multiple Tempos on any track:

This feature is very nifty-you can set more than 1 tempo on any selected area and on multiple audio tracks

Babya Logic lets you set multiple tempos (on different tracks too) easily as well-by using its selection tools and tempo control.
