Babya Rumor report-November 8, 2009

Welcome to Babya Rumor report (a new name-as we didn't get much reader mail)-and a new more compact format.

This week:

  • BabyaOne adds a browser (related to last week's Discoverer rumor)
Guess the rumors about Babya Discoverer are correct-a soon to be on YouTube Babya videos teases:
"Babya Discover is history"
"BabyaOne Browse replaces it-more compact and fast!"

No further details are available-though we've confirmed that it'll be tabbed.

Babya bPicture to be phased out?

Along with bLib, bSuite 2010 doesn't feature bPicture, suggesting there are plans to phase it out again and replace it with a new version featuring a more streamlined interface and feature set.

That's it for this week's report

Reader mail & Rumor Report-October 21, 2009

Welcome to this week's Reader mail & Rumor Report.

This week's rumors:
  • Babya to release bTunes Plus
  • bSuite loses bLib?
  • Production Suite 2
  • Babya System
  • Babya Discoverer
Babya to release bTunes Plus

Babya's new bTunes is proving to be quite popular-so we were interested to hear from one of sources that a "plus" version is in the works for early 2010.

Apparently, the plus version will include bTunes and a video playing companion app-bTunes Movie Store.

The unusual name for the video playing companion, our sources says is because it not only plays videos, it can catalogue them.

bSuite loses bLib?

In conjuction with above rumor of the "bTunes Movie Store", it's been reported by a source closely involved with Alvin Novick's digital media team that bLib has been dropped from bSuite 2010.

Production Suite 2

Babya recently confirmed "Production Suite 2" but didn't announce any new features-however a source closely involved with Alvin Novick's digital media team has suggested the following is new:
  • there's a new FFMPEG based video conversion utility
  • Babya Firestorm is not included-replaced by a new, as yet unnamed special effects generation app

Babya System

The next version of Babya System-2010, our sources indicate is likely to be demoed at the January Babya Expo.

Contrary to what is said on the Babya website-saying that the 2010 version focuses on refining Babya System's feature set-paving the way for exciting new features, there has been a couple of new additions being planned-eg.
bDesktop has a redesigned layout, saying "it's designed to resemble a Linux based OS".

Development is expected to start soon.

Babya Discoverer
On a related note, Babya users expecting Babya Discoverer 2010 to be out next month will be interested to hear that one source suggests "it has been been constantly delayed-the planned dual view feature is being dropped as Babya is investigating its future."
