Reader Mail and Rumor Report-January 14, 2005:

The January Babya Expo keynote is only a few days away (Jan. 19), so today's Reader Mail and Rumor Report will not only include several rumors, we answer a reader's question on when will Babya System be updated. Also, we also discuss a new bCal release.

Jafo writes:

"Any truth to the rumor that Babya System will actually do something now?
Jafo has heard-tell that development has been derailled in favor of actual function.
The original System was perfect and still.....perfectly still....did nothing wrong.......did nothing at all.."

A.A. Fussy replies:

A update to Babya System may be released in the next month or so-v 13.1 or v 13.5 according to one source. We don't have any information currently about what will be new in this update, but we'll update on this rumor in the weeks to come.

Babya bSuite:

Babya bSuite-the Babya office suite, will be announced on Jan. 17. It is expected it will include a new word processor, updated Babya bCal (greatly improved, first new version since Sept. 2003), Babya Photo Workshop, Babya Discoverer RSS (v11) and web site creation softwate.

At this stage, we haven't heard that a spreadsheet or database will be included.

Babya audio converter-Babya Shuffle?:

A replacement for Wav2MP3 Babya edition is rumored for a announcement at Monday's Babya Expo. Sources inform us that it would be "Babya Shuffle" and part of a new Babya bPlayer release.

Babya Discoverer:

Babya Discoverer is almost definitely be updated at next Monday's Babya Expo. Not only does it include a download manager, Babya bView-which is a RSS feed reader is included. Due to that, Babya Discoverer RSS is the rumored name for the new release.

That's it for our rumor and reader mail report for today. As the Babya Expo is not far away, our next report will revisit earlier rumors and what is expected to be announced at the Babya Expo

Reader Mail and Rumor Report-January 11, 2005:

Today's reader mail and rumors-confirmation of the long awaited Babya accounting package, we update the previous Babya Photo Workshop 7.5 and Babya Presenter rumors.

Babya Accounting software:
Last month we noted that a Babya accounting package was being developed. Now we can reveal that it'll be known as Babya bAccounting and is due to be released later this week-at the Babya Expo.

Additionally, there will be a version for specific business types (trye retailers, libraries).

Babya Photo Workshop 7.5:
Also, in the Dec. 21 rumor report, we reported that a new edition of Babya Photo Workshop was on the way. We can confirm that the new version-7.5 , is based on Paint.NET, supports image layers (like in Photoshop and other image editors), includes several new paint tools, Tablet PC support and is likely to be announced at the Babya Expo, for a possible late January or early February release..

Babya Presenter:
We originally said in December that the next version was to be version 2.0, but it is now most likely to be version 1.1 with several improvements-notably a new title creator (so you can create text based slide images for use with Babya Presenter. When will it be released is uncertain currently-one source said it'd won't debut at this month's expo, but in early February.

That's all the rumors and reader email for today's report. Our next report will be focused on this month's Babya Expo-we'll revisit earlier rumors and also report on what was introduced during the keynote-a transcript will be posted after the keynote is over at http://babyasystem.portal.dk3.com. We will also post a roundup of what is likely to be anounced as well.
